Funny Verse

Well, i'm not saying the verse is at all funny, but how it undermines two common present day beliefs is pretty ridiculous.

Philippians 1:29 "29 For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake"

1) For it has been granted to you for the sake of Christ that you should believe. Faith is a gift of God, and if we have it, we have it because God granted it to us. The credit for our belief is found in nothing other than the grace of God given for Christ's sake.

2) For it has been granted to you for the sake of Christ that you should suffer. If we have faith in God, we must suffer. It is not an option, it's a definite. This suffering is a gift from God, not a curse, granted to us for Christ's sake.

So much for Arminianism and the prosperity gospel. God destroyed them both in one verse.

He's efficient.
