that was a creative title...comon, you'd probably high-five me for it if I wasn't 140+ miles away.
I'm reading a book by the puritan, John Owen, called Communion with God.
Yesterday, I came across a passage that rocked my world. While talking about the grace of God being unconditional, Owen said:
“’But will not this encourage to sin?’ He never tasted of the love of God that can seriously make this objection. The doctrine of grace may be turned into wantonness; the principle cannot.”
Someone who has never TASTED of the love of God can make the claim that grace encourages sin by removing personal responsibility. But oh if they would taste of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ, how they would see its error.
